Goodbye, SolarCity! New Beginnings
After more than 4 years at SolarCity, I made a difficult decision to leave my full-time position to pursue entrepreneurship and teaching in Higher Ed as an Adjunct Professor of Business Management.
When you know what your passion and purpose is, you have that "calling" to pursue that. I've always known ever since I was in my 20's that my passion and purpose was career coaching, training, developing, and educating people. I knew it was my time to go, and I had a "calling" to venture out on my own.
This summer I launched a consulting business that specializes in cross-cultural training, career coaching and outplacement services, and teaching business management at universities and conferences.
Although I am extremely excited to pursue this entrepreneurial venture and calling, leaving SolarCIty, an amazing management team, and colleagues who became close friends made it difficult to leave. I got to experience an IPO, hypergrowth company that grew from 900 to over 12,000 employees in 4 years, and several of acquisitions and culture changes. I grew up as a professional at SolarCity, and had the opportunity to work on neat projects with my team and travel all over the country to build and train hiring managers on national recruiting programs.
I am forever thankful for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity I had to learn and grow at SolarCity. I am incredibly grateful for my managers Kia, Deborah, Otis, and all of my colleagues who made my 4+ years special at SolarCity.
Cheers to new beginnings SCTY team. I know our paths will cross again.
