Celebrating Our 2nd Anniversary in Buenos Aires

We celebrated our 2 year wedding anniversary in Buenos Aires at a Palermo staple, Don Julio Parrilla! (Thanks to our good friend Neema, who lived in Buenos Aires before and recommended this place.)

In Spanish, Brian ordered "sweet bread" to go with our Bife De Chorizo (sirloin steak) and Mendoza malbec.

The confused waiter, however, came back with grilled chicken.

Oh well, at least the grilled chicken was very delicious.

Ever since we were engaged in 2012, Brian and I have discussed important (and sometimes difficult!) topics. Now that we're married, we do this every year around the time of our anniversary. Usually over a meal, or sometimes a bottle of wine.

We talk about things like:

  • The meaning of marriage and commitment

  • Faith

  • Family & In Laws

  • Finances

  • Communication and Conflict Management

  • Household chores

  • Career Goals

  • Family Goals

  • Life Goals

These yearly conversations have been very helpful for Brian and I to ensure that we are on the same page about everything and that we work together. It's helped us be happy and authentic in our marriage. I am sure that as time goes on, and we are in different life stages, our topics will continue to evolve.

I've founded that contrary to what we're told, marriage isn't about riding off into the sunset after your wedding and living happily ever after. It takes commitment building your life together as a team.

We're both still learning a lot about what marriage means: communication, compromise, keeping the peace, putting each other first, and always working together as a team. I'm still figuring out how to be a good wife, life partner, daughter in law, and sister in law. Brian and I will probably continue to learn, grow, and figure things out together over the years.

We can't believe it's already been 2 years since our special day that we celebrated our marriage with family, friends, and loved ones in Oahu's north shore. Turtle Bay will always be our special place. Time sure flies!

We're so thankful for our family and friends who have been very supportive these past 2 years. And we're thankful for the Lord for being our rock.

Here's to many, many more wedding anniversaries and good laughs.
