Argentine Futbol! La Boca Juniors game vs. the Huracans

In Argentina and other parts of South America, they say that futbol (soccer for Westerners) is a religion. Brian and I had the honor of seeing a La Boca Juniors vs. Huracans match this Sunday!

Brian is a die-hard baseball fan, and I live for college football every Fall. Although we've been to dozens of baseball and football games, (OK, Brian's been to probably hundreds of Cubs games...) we've never seen this much passion, energy, singing, acrobatic cheerleaders, and angry cussing fans as we did at the La Boca Juniors stadium!

It turns out that it's real hard to get tickets to a futbol game. Apparently you have to get on a waiting list and wait for 8+ years to officially become a member of your favorite team and to watch games live.

So Brian and I went with LandingPadBA, a reputable tour company that hooks up foreigners and visitors with futbol games and other site seeing activities.

When our Landing Pad BA tour bus dropped us off blocks away from the La Boca Juniors stadium, our tour guide jumped off first and met with a man holding a big envelope. I saw them exchange cash. Lo and behold, inside the envelope were dozens of La Boca Juniors "membership cards." Whose cards these belonged to, I have no idea! But it got the whole bus into the game nevertheless.

I felt like a 19 year old college kid all over again trying to use a fake ID to get into the bar!

Using our fake IDs to get into the game. My name was Gloria Cecelia, and Brian's was Gracela.

Watching a futbol match in South America is a must! This game was definitely one of our highlights in South America..
