Passion and PDA
One of the more interesting comparisons between Buenos Aires and Singapore is the level of passion and public displays of affection (PDA).
Buenos Aires is famous for it's high level of passion it's residents show. Perhaps it's the hot and sweaty weather, combined with the Spanish and Italian blood. Whether they're angry or in a loving mood, they're doing it all the way in, with enthusiasm, passion, and a zest for life.
It's not common to see a couple fighting on the street, yelling at each other. It's equally as common to see a couple passionately making out right in the street, with hordes of people, cars, traffic zooming right by. PDA is part of the culture. Perhaps, in a true Buenos Aires moment, they're dancing the tango on a sunny late afternoon.
Meanwhile in Asia (Singapore) and many other countries (so I'm told, although my own travels concur), it's much more reserved and conservative. I actually think it's rare to see 2 people holding hands let alone hugging, fighting, or kissing!
Perhaps it's ingrained in the Singaporean culture to not show too much and keep your hands to yourself. Either way, the contrast is amazing to see and part of what makes travel so interesting!
