Bangkok and a case of Bangkok Belly
Brian and I are spending a couple of nights in Bangkok, Thailand after our wonderful trip to Phuket.
River views from our hotel room. Thank you for the upgrade, SPG!
Bangkok is a clean and modern city! Just like Singapore, there are modern high rises and condos everywhere. The main difference though is that you will see remnants of poverty and slums scattered throughout the city and river.
The whole city is centered around the Chao Phraya River where boats and cargo ships stream through the river. If you don't want to get stuck in Bangkok traffic taking a taxi or tuk tuk, you can simply hop on a river boat to get to a destination.

Although 90% of the Thai people Brian and I met are super kind, graceful, and peaceful people due to their Buddhist roots, Thailand similar to Argentina has many scams. I told you about the "Bird Poop Scam" that Brian and many of my unassuming friends visiting Argentina fell for. In Bangkok, there's everything from palace and temple scams, taxi and tuk tuk scams, gem store scams, and fake police and official scams just to name a few. Bottom line: you really have to watch your back and always be suspicious of overly friendly strangers in Thailand.
And sad to say, I came down with a bad case of "Bangkok Belly" similar to the traveler's stomach bug I picked up in Buenos Aires. I'm medicated on CiPro antibiotics to make this go away.
Thankfully I had a chance to explore Bangkok's Grand Palace and Temple of the Reclining Buddha early part of our trip.
Here are some of the highlights from our short trip to Bangkok:
Temple of the Reclining Buddha
Monks inspecting the Reclining Buddha's soles

So where are we off to next? Stay tuned for our adventures in the Kingdom of Cambodia!
