Sunrise at Angkor Wat
Being a non-morning person, there are only a few things I'd get up at 4 am for. Seeing sunrise at Angkor Wat is one of those few reasons!
Mr. Kahn, our friendly Cambodian tuk tuk driver, picked us up at 4:30 in the morning to see sunrise at Angkor Wat. Still half asleep and groggy from only a few hours of sleep, Brian and I made our way down to the hotel lobby where the hotel receptionist handed over our breakfast in a box. We were then driven on Mr. Kahn's loud tuk tuk to the Angkor World Heritage visitor's center where we bought a 3 day pass to see all of the Angkor temples of Siem Reap.
Can you tell from our Angkor World Heritage photos how sleepy we were ?
Angkor Wat in Siem Reap, Cambodia is the largest religious monument in the world, originally constructed as a Hindu temple for the Khmer Empire, gradually transforming into a Buddhist temple toward the end of the 12th century. It was built by the Khmer King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century dedicated to Vishnu.
Today, Angkor Wat appears on the national Cambodian flag.
