Working 'round the world
People who know we're doing so much traveling often wonder when I get work done. I'm forever thankful and grateful for this opportunity to travel, but it's not all fun and games.
I often have to work late hours (have taken conference calls as late as 2am) and early mornings to catch my team on the other side of the world. It can be stressful because it seems like the business happens while I'm sleeping, and as a co-founder, it can be frustrating to miss these crucial moments and conversations.
My co-founder Alex is based in California, my sales team in Texas and South Carolina, and my operations team is in Buenos Aires. So basically they are awake when I'm asleep and vice versa. Christie documented a few photos of my trying to run a startup from the other side of the world.
This picture below is getting ready to call Alex while looking out the window of our hotel room in Bangkok.
This photo below was from a national shrine in Kyoto, Japan, again speaking with Alex. In fact, we were working on an important deal on this call.
This photo below was taken on the bullet train from Kyoto to Tokyo, a fast 2.5 hour ride. Although wifi was available, I found this to be a great time to take advantage of working during normal hours and do some long-range planning.
