2020, What a Year

When 2020 started, Brian and I were optimistic and had all sorts of plans for the year.

Little did we know that everything would change overnight when the pandemic hit.

Shelter in place orders, social distancing, mask and face shields, avoiding large crowds, Instacart grocery shopping, and Netflix show binges became the norm.

Group gatherings were put on hold, so groups we normally attended whether that was Sunday church service, Rotary Club meetings, or Brian’s UCLA MBA alumni and business networking groups all transitioned to online meetups.

Birthday and holiday plans cancelled, and we did not have our son’s 1st birthday party. Family and friends postponed their visits.

Work travel for Brian ceased, and we navigated the new world of both working from home sheltered in place with an active toddler interrupting our Zoom calls.

Our family‘s much anticipated overseas trip and Seattle-to-San Diego road trip plan to visit family and friends were nixed.

And sadly we know a number of family, friends, and loved ones of our loved ones who were affected by COVID-19.

2020, what a year.

The silver lining of the pandemic is that it allowed us to slow down and focus on what really matters. We appreciate the little stuff and things we used to take for granted now and love the quality time we have together as a family.

If you or your loved ones were affected by the pandemic in any way whether it was health, or job / business loss related, please know that you are not alone. It’s been a challenging year for all.

We will all get through this, and one day we will look back and think about what a crazy year 2020 was.

From our family to yours, we hope that 2021 and the New Year brings you hope, joy, peace, and much better days ahead!

Christie and Brian
